Alfred John Neville of East Coker (1886-1953): age 21, 3 songs on 10 Aug 1908: Sharp met Alfred Neville first and then returned 3 weeks later to interview Alfred’s father Charles.

Alfred was born on 18/12/1886 and baptised 26/12/1887 at East Coker church, youngest son of Charles & Mary Neville. Alfred was a twine-maker initially but became a gardener in his adult life. On 26/12/1912 at East Coker he married Mabel Whittle, daughter of Albert Whittle, a groom. In the 1939 register they were living in Poole, Dorset – Alfred, 52 was a gardener at St Anns in the town. His wife Mabel was 53, and daughter Doris, 25 was a short-hand typist. Alfred died Jan qr 1953 Poole 6a 718 aged 66.
