George Aston at Shipston-on-Stour: age 70, 2 songs (FT2491,2) on 13 May 1910: George Aston was probably recommended to Sharp by George Hartwell (see separate profile), as both men were brought up in the village of Tredington.

George Aston was baptised on 10/5/1840, son of Richard Aston, agricultural labourer and his wife Elizabeth. He lost his mother early in his life and was a farmer’s boy at age 10. He worked as a carter and agricultural labourer all his life, marrying Ann Hartwell on 4/10/1863 at Tredington. They had 5 children. Sharp met him at Shipston-on-Stour but George was always a Tredington man. His date of death is to be discovered.
