Catherine Lawrence of Merriott (1840-1912): age 65, 2 songs (FT635/6) on 5 Sept 1905: Catherine married into a wealthier branch of the Lawrence family. She was baptised Catherine Osborne 4/8/1840 in Merriott, daughter of Samuel Osborne, market gardener.

On 24/8/1860 she married Joseph Lawrence, 20, son of Richard Lawrence (farmer 60 acres) and his wife Eliza. Joseph set up as a market gardener himself by 1871 census, then took a farm of 100 acres at Broadwinsor in Dorset (1881). In 1891 and 1901 they were farming at Furleigh Farm in Netherbury Dorset (RG13/2010 f80 p6) but must have retired and returned to their home village of Merriott by the time Sharp met Catherine in 1905. Joseph and Catherine were settled at Boozer Pit just outside Merriott in 1911 census (RG14/14375 schedule 172). Catherine died on 8/2/1912 age 71.
