Charlotte Binding of Stogursey (1844-1920): age 64, 6 songs on 11 Aug 1906: Charlotte Binding was baptised on 12/5/1844 at Stogursey church, daughter of William Binding, labourer and his wife Harriet. Charlotte never married but had a son out of wedlock – William Charles Binding bp 24/11/1869 at Stogursey – father unknown. Charlotte was then 25 and kept son William at home with her till his ‘20s. Charlotte worked hard as an agricultural labourer herself (1871,1881 and 1891 censuses). In 1901 she was with her widowed brother Robert in Well St, Stogursey (ref RG13/2264 f35 p9). In 1911 she was on her own ‘living on charity’. She died June qr 1920 age 73 (ref Williton 5c327).
