John Cook at Lower Guiting (or Guiting Power) Glos (1865-1936): age 43, 1 fiddle tune ‘Rose Tree’ FT2162 8 April 1909: Guiting Power is a village 7 miles W of Stow-on-the-Wold: Sharp noted that John Cook was about 40. This will be John Michael Cook, baptised 26/11/1865 at Guiting Power and therefore 43 when he met Sharp. He was eldest of 7 children of Charles Cook, slater and plasterer, and his wife Elizabeth. John became a slater in his own right and married Sarah Jane Creed at Guiting Power on 11/3/1894. They had 3 children. John was buried at Guiting Power 7/10/1936 aged 70.
