RJ Garnish of 6 Lennox Rd, Finsbury Park at 183, Adelaide Rd, Hampstead: age 35, 4 songs FT1973-6 on 16 Oct 1908: Probably Garnish was doing some work on Cecil Sharp’s house, because he was a bricklayer by trade.

His name was Robert James Garnish and the 1911 census has him at the address given by Sharp (Lennox Rd) in his notes FT1973. The census ref is RG14/836 p284. Robert was born on 3/7/1876 and baptised on 19/9/1876, son of James & Elizabeth Garnish. He was the eldest of 5 children. He married Clara Brinklow in October qr 1897 (Pancras 1b 96). They had 7 children but lost 4 of them as infants. Robert was a builder’s scaffolder (retired) in the 1939 Register and he died on 14 July 1953.
