George Emery of Othery (1827-1909): age 81, 1 song ‘Farmer’s Boy’(FT1608) on 6 Apr 1908: George also recited the ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’ (no tune). George was the older brother of singer Alfred Emery.

He was baptised on 29/4/1827 at Othery church, son of James Emery, labourer and his wife Anne. James was sexton of the parish in 1851 census. George married Elizabeth Tucker, daughter of Samuel Tucker, labourer at Othery on 24/4/1853. They had 9 children. George was an agricultural labourer in all censuses and was sexton in his turn in 1891 census. He and Elizabeth were looking after 2 grandsons, living in the High St in Othery in 1901 census (RG13/2282 f34 p5). They were 2 doors away from brother Alfred. George died in January qr 1909 (5c 257).
