George Hartwell at Idlicote (1836-1910): age 74, 3 songs (FT2471-3) including ‘All Jolly Fellows that follow the Plough’ on 29 April 1910: Idlicote is 4 miles E of Armscote, where Sharp was staying with Mrs Stanton:

George Hartwell was baptised at Tredington on 7/8/1836, 5th child of John Hartwell, agricultural labourer and his wife Elizabeth. He was a carter and a shepherd throughout his life, marrying Jane Foster of Long Compton in October 1862. They had 6 children and lived at Idlicote for over 30 years. Elizabeth died in 1899 and George himself (within months of meeting Sharp) in July qr 1910 (ref 6d 319).
