Henry Tidball of Wedmore (1832-1911): age 75, 6 songs FT1191ff) on 16 Jan 1907: Henry Tidball was baptised on 5/8/1832 at Huntspill church, son of William Tidball. In 1851 William Tidball was a modest ‘farmer of 10 acres’ in the village of Mark but he died in the 1850s. William's widow Sarah, 67, was a ‘schoolmistress’ in the 1861 census in Mark, assisted by daughter Emma (schoolteacher). Her son Henry was still at home, aged 28, working as an agricultural labourer.

Sarah and Henry were still in Mark in 1871 but then Henry married (probably October qr 1876 to Jane Hicks, Bristol 6a 39). Henry was in Wedmore in 1891, aged 59, a general labourer, while Jane, 61, was a laundress. In the 1901 Wedmore census Henry was a widower (RG13/2320 f62 p10). He must have been admitted to the Axbridge Union workhouse soon after his meeting with Sharp, for he was buried at Wedmore on 10/2/1911 aged 78 ‘Union House Axbridge’.
