Robert Higgs at Little Coxwell (1871-1939): age 37, 2 songs on 31 July 1907: Little Coxwell is a couple of miles south of Faringdon and was in the county of Berkshire until 1974 when it joined Oxfordshire. Robert sang versions of ‘John Barleycorn’ and ‘I’m Seventeen come Sunday’ (FT1366/7):

Robert Higgs was the third child and only son of James Higgs, agricultural labourer and his wife Sarah (née Gerring). He was born April qr 1871 (Faringdon 2c 262). Robert became an agricultural labourer like his father and married Caroline Hawkins October qr 1897 (Faringdon 2c 607). They had 4 sons and 4 daughters. Robert died April qr 1939 (Uxbridge 3a 106).
