John Weetch of Exton (1842-1916): age 72, 1 song ‘Green Mossy Banks of the Lea’ (FT2917) on 29 Apr 1914: John Weetch was a haulier, who advertised his services in various Kelly’s Directories of the day. He was born c1842 in Brompton Ralph but plied his trade in both Brushford and in Exton.

In 1901 census (RG13/2266 f100 p10) he was listed as ‘single, 59, haulier own a/c, b Brompton Ralph’. The latter is a village 12 miles to the east of Exton. John had a housekeeper at that date – Elizabeth Ann Burge (single, 35). They were married at Exton church on 8/2/1910. John could not sign his name. They were together at Rose Cottage, Exton in 1911. John probably died Jan qr 1916 aged 75 (Dulverton 5c 395).
