Mrs Florence Chedgey of Stockland Bristol, a village 9 miles NNW of Bridgwater (1873-1959): age 34, words for 4 songs on 6 Jan 1908: Mrs Chedgey has been incorrectly archived at Stockland, Devon. Sharp was staying in the Bridgwater area from Sat 4th Jan to Thurs 9th Jan 1908 before a quick trip to Tewkesbury, Glos.

Florence Stacey was born July qr 1873 (5c 415) but not baptised until 6/10/1878 at Weston Zoyland church. She was the daughter of Charles Stacey, bricklayer and his wife Maria. She was a younger sister of singer Lizzie Selway. In 1891 census she was aged 18, a servant in nearby Moorland village. In July qr 1898 she married William Henry Chedgey and in 1901 they were at Stockland Bristol (RG13/2280 f69 p22) with their first child Mina.

The enumerator recorded the surname as ‘Chidgey’. Florence had 4 more children at Stockland (youngest in 1909) but by 1911 census the couple had moved 2 miles west to Cockwood in the parish of Stogursey. Florence died April qr 1959 (Exmoor 7c 144).
