Mrs Sarah Clarke of Meare, 4 miles NW of Glastonbury (1834-1917): age 70, 1 song ‘Cornish Young Man’ FT802 on 19 Jan 1906: Sarah Nutt was baptised on 19/10/1834 at Meare church, daughter of Michael Nutt, labourer and his wife Elizabeth. She married Thomas Clarke at Meare church on 31/12/1857. They were both residing at West Hay and neither could sign their name. Thomas was an agricultural labourer and in 1881 a ‘turf cutter’. They had no children. Thomas died in Sept 1896 and Sarah lived on at Ashcott Rd Meare, before going into Wells workhouse by 1911. She probably died in June qr 1917 (Shepton Mallet ref 5c 529).
