William Pannell at West Chiltington: 2 songs ‘Twankydillo’ and ‘The Seeds of Love’ (FT1662,1668) on 21 April 1908: 12 miles S of Horsham

Sharp did not give an age to this singer and his writing looks like ‘Parnell’ but ‘Pannell’ is a common surname in this part of Sussex, so the best candidate is: William Henry Pannell, who was baptised on 7/2/1875 at Haslemere, Surrey, youngest of 2 children of Frederick Pannell, agricultural labourer and his wife Emma. His parents had moved S to Fittleworth, Sussex by the 1891 census, where William had begun work as an agricultural labourer too.

William married Minnie Bristow in April 1901 and they went to live with William's sister Annie Eliza Booker on her farm Little Hagland in West Chiltington.
