Paterson, James

Dancer

Collection date: Jan 1899

Area: London

James Paterson: James Paterson was a member of Sharp’s demonstration morris team alongside fellow student A. Claud Wright (see separate profile). James was enrolled on the physical education and gymnastics training course at the South West Polytechnic Institute at Chelsea.

According to the 1911 census James was living as a boarder at 4 Devonport Road, Shepherd’s Bush – the house of Claud Wright’s parents. The census states that James, 22, a gymnastics teacher, was born in Glasgow (c1889) but there were several men with that name/birth date in the 1901 Scotland census.

Further biographical research is therefore required.
