Mrs Richards at Little Sodbury: 3 songs (FT1283-5) on 2 Apr 1907: Sharp gave this singer’s age as 78 but there is nobody of the right age and name in the Little Sodbury census of 1901. There is, however, a Mrs Caroline ‘Richings’, which could easily be misheard as ‘Richards’. She was 64 in 1901 and therefore 70 in 1907. It’s unlike Sharp to be wildly out in his age estimations and this identification remains only a remote possibility. Caroline Richings was born in Berkeley, 10 miles to the north, and died in January qr 1909 (6a 165).
