John Vickery at East Worlington, North Devon (1836-1920): age 69, 3 songs 5 Jan 1905: John Vickery was baptized on 7/1/1836 at Witheridge church (2 miles east of E Worlington), son of Elizabeth Vickery, who was a widow by the time of the 1851 census.

In Jan qr 1859 John married Jane Sampson (ref 5b 736) and they moved to East Worlington, raising at least 7 children, including singer William Vickery. John Vickery was an agricultural labourer all his life. When Jane died in 1897 John went to live with his son James, wife and 4 grandchildren (1901 census ref RG13/2140 f87 p1). John died Jan qr 1920 aged 84 (5b 580).
