Joseph Evans was born Apr qr 1860 (3a 578), 5th child of William Evans, agricultural labourer and his wife Jane. He married Rebecca Ayers on 31/3/1883 at Eynsham. Neither could sign their names. They had 11 children. Joe was a ‘haytier’ in the 1901 and 1911 censuses. He was buried at Eynsham church 6/11/1926.
