Frank Sampson of Pensford (1826-1919): age 81, 2 songs 1 Apr 1907: Francis Sampson was born c1826 in Bishopsworth, nr Bedminster 2 miles south of Bristol. He was the son of Thomas Sampson.

Francis married Harriet Ann Cobb at Bedminster St John church on 16/10/1848. They moved to Publow village (5 miles directly south of Bristol) and had 8 children, 2 of whom died as infants. Frank was a labourer all his life. In 1911 aged 85 he was living with his son James, daughter-in-law Florence and 3 grandchildren at 2 Filterbed Cottages, Barrow Gurney (ref RG14/14794 schedule 42). James was a pipe-layer for the nearby Bristol Water Treatment plant. Frank may have been visiting his son Charles at Pensford when he met Sharp. Frank died in Jan qr 1919 (Long Ashton 5c 953).
