George Currell of East Harptree (1825-1912): age 80, 4 songs on 26 Aug 1904 and 10 Jan 1905: George was born in 1825, son of James & Elizabeth Currell. By 1861 he was an agricultural labourer in 1861 with wife Hannah. They eventually had 8 sons and 2 daughters.

George owned some land on Smitham Hill (just out of the village to the south) and he calls himself a farmer in most of the censuses. In 1901 census he was ’76, a farmer’ living in Wallace Lane. His wife Hannah died in July 1905. George was living on his own in 1911 (with a lodger) and died on 6/11/1912, leaving £52.
