Daniel Lock of Minster Lovell morris: age 70, 2 morris tunes ‘Trunkles’ and ‘Constant Billy’ (FT2697/8) on 18 Sept 1911: Daniel also demonstrated the steps and figures of the old Minster Lovell morris side, which folded around the 1860s. They used to dance at Whitsun and special occasions. See Folk Dance Notes vol2 p49.

Daniel Lock was baptised 18/4/1841 at Minster Lovell and married Jane Puffett of Leafield on 1/5/1871. They raised 8 children at Minster Lovell. Daniel was an agricultural labourer and then a road labourer. His date of death is yet to be confirmed.

Daniel’s older brother James Lock was Ragman in the Minster Lovell morris side, James Lock was baptised 3/5/1839 at Minster Lovell, 5th child of Richard Lock, agricultural labourer and his wife Susannah. On 26/7/1862 he married Martha Wyatt and they had 7 children, living initially at Waterman’s Lodge nr Charlbury and then at Spelsbury for 3 decades. James died April qr 1914. Note: James Lock is not to be confused with the fiddler James Locke of Shropshire.
