Miss Lavinia Rendall at Chew Magna (1842-1923): age 64, 1 song ‘Ringers of Chew’ (FT1157) on 10 Jan 1907: Miss Rendall ran the draper’s shop in South Parade in Chew Magna for over 30 years. She was baptised on 2/10/1842 in Chew Magna church, 4th child (of 6) to James Rendall, edge tool maker and his wife Hannah.

Lavinia went into service at the vicarage in Chew Magna (1861 census) and then teamed up with her widowed mother Hannah to start a draper’s shop in Chew Magna (1871 census). Hannah’s brother Benjamin had been running a draper’s shop in Bristol since 1851, so the family was an enterprising one. 1901 census ref is RG13/2330 f52 p2. Lavinia died in 1923 (ref Clutton 5c 602).
