Charles Turner of Bridgwater (1834-1909): age 71, 9 songs Aug 1905: Charles Turner was born in 1834 in Bridgwater, son of Moses Turner, brick labourer and wife Maria. He was the 5th of 7 children living in Friarn Street (1841).

He became a brick and tile worker at the Hamp works in the south of the town and married Elizabeth Woodridge at Holy Trinity church on 18/10/1856. Neither could sign their name. They had no children themselves but were looking after their nephew Joseph Duddridge in both 1861 and 1871 censuses. Charles worked all his life as a brickyard worker. The couple moved to Angel Crescent, just north of the High Street (1901 census ref is RG13/2284 f68 p25). Charles died in 1909 5c 203.
