Eliza Small: age 72, 16 songs on 4 occasions commencing 8 Aug 1905: Eliza was born Eliza Mathews and baptised at Huish Episcopi on 5/5/1833, daughter of James Mathews, labourer and his wife Ann.

She married Thomas Small, labourer at Langport church on 29/9/1853. She couldn’t sign her name in the register. They had two sons Alfred & Thomas. Her husband died in the 1850s and she was struggling in 1871 as a bag mender in a sack loft at Gore’s Court, Bow St (near wharf). She was on her own at same address in 1881 (seamstress), then with a boarder in both 1891 (charwoman) and 1901 (office cleaner, age 67, still at same address RG13/2288 f5 p1). She was buried 4 March 1909.
