Elizabeth Porter of Bridgwater (1856-1919?): age 51, 1 song 'The False Bride' (FT914) on 18 Apr 1906: Lily Porter's mother Elizabeth was baptised Elizabeth Betty at Holy Trinity Bridgwater on 13/7/1856, daughter of Henry Betty, shipwright and his wife Harriet. She married John Porter, sailor and son of Thomas Porter, at Holy Trinity on Xmas Day 1873. They had 3 children and in the 1881 census were living in Halswell Lane, next door to James Barnett and his crippled son Jack.

Sadly John Porter was lost at sea aged only 26 on 10/11/1881. Elizabeth then married Walter Porter at Holy Trinity on 7/8/1887. She could not sign her name. Walter was the son of a James Porter, so he and John Porter were not brothers but may have been cousins. Elizabeth & Walter were at Halswell Lane again in 1901 (ref RG13/2283 f65 p28) and in 1911 at No.2 court West St. Lily by then was aged 16 and working at the collar factory. Elizabeth poss died Sept 1919 Bridgwater 5c 337.
