Rev Arthur Herbert Powell (1856-1928), vicar of Bridgwater: As with his colleague Rev Warren, Powell's assistance is acknowledged by Sharp and Marson in the preface of Folk Songs from Somerset vol2.

Arthur Powell was born in Liverpool in 1856. His father Charles was a Captain in the Merchant Navy and then became a Lieutenant in the Royal Navy Reserve, so probably Arthur felt at ease among the dockers and sailors of Bridgwater. He was vicar of St Mary's Bridgwater from 1901-11. He wrote a book 'Bridgwater in the Later Days' (1908).

His wife Matilda gave him a son and a daughter. Arthur Powell died in 1928.
