Tom Cave at Evercreech (1828-1913): age 79, 6 fiddle tunes (mostly hornpipes FT1490-95) on 11 Sept 1907: Tom was father of Henry Cave. He was baptised on 23/1/1828 at Castle Cary, son of Henry Cave (Snr), horse-dealer and his wife Mary. Tom married Harriett Burr at Wincanton on 26/11/1850. They had 7 children and settled in Evercreech for 50 years, Tom being described as a grinder or cutler or pedlar (1901 ref RG13/2314 f36 p25). His wife Harriet died aged 76 in April qr 1907 (ref 5c 287), so Tom was newly widowed when Sharp first met him. He was later admitted to Shepton Mallet Union workhouse (1911 census ref RG14/14505), where he died in early 1913.
