Shropshire

Cecil Sharp collected 33 songs and tunes from 13 performers* in Shropshire, mostly in 1911. He was particularly motivated to find and note local carols, as he was getting ready to publish his book 'English Folk-Carols' that winter. Four Shropshire songs just made it in time in his selection of 21 carols for the book (Novello November 1911).
